Society Awards - The 14th Arab Congress of Plant Protection

1. Candidacy for “Society fellow member” award:

Any member of the society can nominate himself or other members for the “Society fellow member” award by submitting a request to the Chairman of the Honor and Awards Committee.

The criteria for considering a nomination for the “Society fellow member” award in the Arab Society for Plant Protection (ASPP) are:

1. Contribution to the establishment of the ASPP (founding member), continuity of membership and attending conferences.
2. Significant contribution to ASPP management: Executive Committee member of ASPP, membership of professional committees or councils formed by the ASPP.
3. Organizing scientific conferences and other ASPP meetings.
4. Contribution to ASPP publications (journal, newsletter, books, dictionary….etc).
5. Scientific achievements in the field of plant protection.
6. Other achievements if any.

The winner of the “Society fellow member” award is granted the following:

1. A certificate signed by the President of the Society and the Chairman of the Awards and Honor Committee.
2. A special plate provided by the Society.
3. The recipient of the “Society fellow member” award will be exempted from paying the annual fees of the ASPP.

2. Best Research Awards for Postgraduate Students:

Awards will be given to the best 3 oral research papers and best 3 posters. The winner will be given a certificate signed by the president of the conference and the chairman of the awards committee, and a symbolic monetary reward.

The Honor and Awards Committee will use a form for evaluating the oral presentations, and another form for evaluating the posters. The criteria used for evaluation are indicated in the forms bellow:

3. Prize for best research in the field of palm pests:

An award (500 US$) from the Iraqi Network for Palm Dates will be awarded for the best palm pests research.

4. Award of the best 3 photos in plant protection:

1. The subject of the photo must be a pest, a disease or symptom of any of the pests (insects, fungi, viruses, bacteria, nematodes and weeds). The photo may be for predators or parasitoids enemy of any of these lesions.
2. The photo must be original, with high resolution, and taken by the applicant to the prize.
3. The contestant can submit a maximum of 3 photos.
4. The photo should show important aspects of pests of economic importance in the region or country of the applicant.
5. The photo must be accompanied by information indicating the name of the pest or disease in Arabic and Latin, the name of the host plant, the most important symptoms resulting from the injury, the place where the photo was taken, and any technical information that the applicant wishes to mention such as camera type, lens, or other tools used.
6. The photo dimensions should be the size of an A4 paper.
